Electric cables stretch through landscapes. Nature perceives them possibly as intrusive. People see them maybe as dull. Ultimately they’re ordinary. For Azzurra Pettorossi however, they’re appealing. In her journey through Thailand and Nepal they were omnipresent, in contrast to the electricity they should distribute.
It travels through snakelike never-ending loops, disappears in abrupt coils, demonstrating its determination as it reappears, ripping the sky apart in a straight-line. Poles are linked by an infinite web, some arbitrarily and precariously placed, others planed and reliable, like the masterpiece of a spider. But it manages to take its journey to a destination, moving the lives of the ones who live there. We are reminded of the strings of a puppeteer, so often overlooked, and at the same time so active and present.
